It is understood that Israel needs to defend itself from the barrage of rocket attacks Hamas launches against it. No matter how I feel about Israel, I defend Israel's right to defend itself. Back in my Zionistic wild years, I was the biggest supporter of the settlements in the Gaza Strip. I had already began to be disgusted by Israeli society but my support for the settlements there never ceased. The Gazan settlements were beneficial not just to to the Israeli economy but to the millions of Arabs living in Gaza. The Gazan settlements designed a magnificant way of growing flowers and produce and demand for their products were high especially in Europe. This brought honest jobs to Gaza and gave the Palestinians something to do during the day instead of firing rockets. Yes Arabs were hired to work there. The Jews of Gaza lived simple lives, they were not militant psychos like the ones in Hebron or other places in the West Bank. Another thing was many of them were not even Ashkanazi, they were Mizrahi (Sephardic) Jews. Pulling out of Gaza was an obviously stupid idea, but the world was demanding Israel do it and Sharon was just too eager to please. Arabs who once had honest jobs now blame Israel for taking their job and can only find work firing rockets.
Now after years of rocket attacks Israel is finally prepared to invade Gaza and try to destory Hamas's infrastructure. that means of the Jews of the world need to watch their backs on the way to Shul because since we are Jews, we must be Zionists and the Arabs of the world take it out on us. Many Jews are Zionist unfortunatly but why should Diaspora Jews get attacked by Arabs because of what Israel did?
There is a Famous French cartoon of a Jew yelling "I am Israeli!" and an Arab yelling "I am Palestinian!" in the middle there stands a fusturated Marianne (the female symbol of France) who says: why cant we all be French?"
Many Diaspora Jews feel the need to support Israel because we see it as important. We send money to the IDF and to radical nutcase settlers in Hebron to help them further their pointless wars. Yet we complain that Arabs who send money to Hamas are supporting terror.
Some Arabs send money to Hamas and other anti-Israel organizations because they feel it is important, or in places like France they jump Jews to show their fusturation. Why dont we all just be American? or French? or English? Why do Jews and Arabs need to waste all their time battling each other on the streets of Europe because of nonsense thousands of miles away that they are not involved in? Jews should stop supporting Israel and focus on their own communities. Give money to anti-missionary organizations or causes that help bring lost Jews back to the tribe. I am not going to justify French Arabs jumping French Jews, but if French Jews would deem themselves as French and not Israeli or pro-Israel, Arabs would have no justification to hate them. See, Arabs view Israel as the product of imperialism. When the Ottoman empire feel, England carved out a piece of land for the European Jews. Jews began pouring at the nod of the English who occupied the land. Since then the focus has been on the middle east Arabs detest the fact that at one time they lived in their own empire and suddenly their land was carved up and named. Tribes and sects who lived semi-peacefully on their own plots of sand were own living leaders who were not popular. Israel is a product of all that and for that Israel is hated. It has nothing to do with us being Jewish. Just as Russian Czars used to sick their angry populations on Jews and blame them for the problems. Europe washed its hands of the middle east and today Jew are hated by Arabs because we aquired land that did not belong to us from people who did not own it. The first Ayatollah of Iran was the first to ackownledge that Judaism and Zionism were seperate and issued a Fatwa (Islamic Decree) declaring Jews people of the book and protected. Today Iranian Jews live peacefully in Iran and are not nationalisic towards Israel. They are Iranian Jews not Israeli. Israel's war becomes my war because now Jewish centers all over the world need to go into code red and beef up their security. I have an idea how about Jewish centers put up flags of their home country and make a banners that say:
WE ARE NOT ISRAELI DO NOT BLAME US FOR ISRAEL DOES!

Another false messiah
Jews are easily enticed and attracted to false messiahs. Maybe it is something held over from the days of the Golden Calf, maybe it is just the Jewish need to saved already. Israel has become just another false messiah for the Jews no different than Shabbatai Tzvi.
American and European Jews have been coerced into believing that they must sacrifice their cozy lives in the west for the backwards life of Israel. The Aliyah-revolution hopes to bring all the real Jews living in the USA, England and Canada to Israel using guilt and mitzvah tactics to convince us to give up our decent lives for the middle east. Jews feel proud dragging their crying children through Ben-Gurion airport smiling for the cameras and crying because they are finally "home". No, you are not home, you are in hell, there is a difference.
I would love to be a fly on the wall of during a family discussion over whether or not to make Aliyah. I wonder if parents even consult with their children about Aliyah? When the Nefesh B' Nefesh mafia plane lands there are usually families with tweenage children disembarking. Why would American Jewish parents who would not send their children off to fight in Iraq agree instead to force their kids to arbitrarily give up three years of his/her life to the Israeli military? Your children were born in America free to make their own life decisions. Now parents deny that to their children by moving to Israel and when they are 18 off to the army they go. Unlike their peers in America who are going to college and starting a life. Why would parents rip their well-established lives in America for the backwards society of Israel? Teens in America prepare their whole lives for the day they get to turn 18 now are forced to join an army of a country they were not even born in to fight a war they have nothing to do with and worse off if they do not go to combat then their parents have nothing to brag about. I always noticed that children of American immigrants tend to grow up to be a little "weird" in Israel, maybe this is why: BECAUSE THEY DO NOT BELONG THERE!
Some American parents (probably the same who complain about American crime rates) decide to move their children into the west bank so they may live in the front lines (of a war). I never understood how children can easily adjust from sleeping in the comfort of their American home, in their quiet neighborhood where they are free to roam about to the gunfire, terrorist swarming desert with military check points and bomb searches of Gaza and the West Bank? Sure parents, you can get used to it because you watch the news (unlike your small children who watch sesame street) and know what goes on there and you can remember from previous trips what it is like. No conversation with your kid, no matter how long, can prepare you kids for the horror of Israeli life. Where is your logic?
The Army! At age 18 all Israeli children miserably enter the army. Now remember, your children were born in America. The the only reason your children now have to go fight for a country they were not even born in, in a war they have nothing to do with, is because their selfish parents convinced them they had to and moved them there when they were 9 before they even had a say. Diaspora Jews have an obsession with the Israeli army for psychological reasons. You see, for centuries, since Jews rarely fought back, people began to perceive us cowards. Jews lived miserably with that stereyotype until the Israeli army came along. Everybody agrees Israeli soldiers are tough so in order to be considered tough they run and join the Israeli army and involve themselves in a conflict they have nothing to do with. All this to be considered bad ass. Nevermind Meyer Lansky, Buggsy Siegel, the Khazars, the hundreds of thousands of Jews who fought for America aganist real enemies like the Nazis. Israel has a military culture which appeals to us because we would and we would like our children to be 6'4 Israeli soldiers with bulging muscles and an M4 sadly we are not. Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jews have always valued education and for us we are proud when our kid graduates from Med school. Israel created the Jewish military culture. So American Jews betray America like I did and run to Israel to fight in it's wars even though their war is as unjust and pathetic as America's.
When person who claims to be a messiah for the Jews (as opposed to messiahs who claim to be Christ) Jews have a strange tendency to believe it. Jesus Christ came following the destruction of the second temple to offer consolation to the broken spiritied Jews and became a messianic figure. Shabbatai Tzvi was considered the messiah, until he converted to Islam. I cannot understand why parents are willing to move their families away from the United States where their children can live freely and aquire a decent education to live in Israel where teachers spend half their year old strike and education poor. What is the logic of European and American Jews getting hysterical over Arabs living in America/Europe and yet move to a country surrounded by Arabs who hate that particular country and regularly terrorize it? Israel is not your home, the country you came from is.

Proud to be an American Jew
Face it, Israel is not all they told you it would be on birthright. I lived there served in the army and ran back to America because Israel is a ghastly place to live. i was once a proud Zionist, who believed that every Jew should live in Israel... until of course I lived there for myself and realized how much I do not feel connected to the land or the people. Sure they are Jewish but they are not Jewish like American Jews are.
This blog is being created so hopefully Jews of the world will hear my message and not make Aliyah. Be patriotic, Jews of the world, cherish your national Jewish culture and work to help it thrive. Israel is the home for Israelis, not for us.
A MOTT= American Member of the Tribe
I do not mind being called disgruntled or whatever because I absconded from the Zahal (Israeli military) and came back to America illegally. I am a former veteran oleh who wanted to live in the settlements. I speak fluent Hebrew and lived in Kiryat Ata far away from Americans and deep in Israeli culture. I did not huddle in the old city or Bet Shemesh like most Americans.
I do not mind a debate, so please feel free to praise or critize what I say, however derision only reinforces that I am right and is the last resort for the angry and stumped.
What makes you think of being Jewish?
maztah balls, knishes and oy vey!
or
shawarma, falafel and Yalla Habibi Walla!
